Mobility concept

The overall mobility concept for Rodgau is the central model for future transport development in our city. It shows how mobility in Rodgau can be designed in a sustainable, supply-orientated and urban way - today and in the future.

Types of transport

The concept takes all modes of transport into account:

  • Pedestrian and cycle traffic
  • local public transport
  • motorised private transport
  • so-called stationary traffic (i.e. parking).

It links these forms of transport in a meaningful way and shows measures that can be implemented step by step.

The motto: " Service-oriented. Sustainable. For everyone. "

The overall mobility concept is based on the following motto:

“ In Rodgau, we are striving for a form of mobility that is accessible to all residents, sustainable and forward-looking. We want to create an integrated and environmentally friendly transport system that meets people’s needs and enables all age groups to participate actively in transport and, by extension, in social life. The solutions should be climate-neutral and reduce private motorised transport without restricting our citizens’ autonomy and independence.”

Questions and answers about the concept

  • Why do we need such a concept?

Rodgau is growing - and with it the demands on our mobility. At the same time, expectations regarding environmental compatibility, quality of life and climate protection are increasing. The overall mobility concept helps us to reconcile these goals:

    • Promoting sustainable mobility
    • Creating safe and barrier-free routes
    • Managing and linking traffic sensibly
    • Strengthening the quality of life in all neighbourhoods

The concept not only serves as a guide for politicians and administrators, but also as a basis for future decisions - for example in construction projects or the planning of new public transport services.

  • What happens next?

The overall mobility concept was developed in several stages - together with experts, political bodies and interested citizens. Following the adoption of the overall mobility concept part 2, the medium-term implementation now follows.

Two parts, one concept

The overall mobility concept is divided into two parts.

Part 1

Part 1 of the concept comprises the inventory, i.e. the current state of the various transport situations in Rodgau. The inventory also included a SWOT analysis for each neighbourhood.

Part 2

In the second part, the weak points of the traffic situation in the districts were identified in order to develop appropriate solutions.

The final version of the comprehensive mobility plan was adopted by the City Council on 9 February 2026.
