The redesign of the forecourt of daycare centre 18 is having a positive effect on orientation and road safety around the facility. The combination of a mini-roundabout, bollards and a reorganisation of the parking situation slows down the flow of traffic and creates safe routes for children, parents and staff. The mini-roundabout has served as a central traffic guidance system since summer 2025. Bollards were used to close Lange Straße between Georg Büchner School and the sports hall, and Nordring was converted into a dead end. These measures create a clear boundary, prevent parking directly in front of the sports hall and direct parents to the large car park behind the hall. The children can now ride their bicycles and bikes through the play street much more safely, as the volume of traffic has decreased and the areas have been made clearer. In addition, further areas have been unsealed and the new planting also ensures an attractive appearance around the daycare centre. Following consultation with the headteacher of the Carl Orff School, the measure has also had a positive impact on traffic around the Nordring. The implementation was initiated by the parents' council of Kita 18 and was supported by committed professionals and parents. Thanks to the cooperation with First City Councillor Janika Martin, feedback and concerns were taken seriously and implemented constructively.
