Social media netiquette

The following netiquette applies to all those who use the social media services of the City of Rodgau and make contact with us and other users there. We welcome suggestions, factual and constructive criticism, tips, comments and contributions to discussions. We ask you to always treat each other responsibly and politely in order to ensure an open dialogue. With this in mind, our discussion rules must also be observed:

  • Always remain respectful, honest and fair towards others in your contributions. Argue in an objective, topic- and content-related manner and tolerate other opinions.
  • Hateful, insulting, defamatory, youth-endangering, obscene, extremist, sexist, homophobic, racist, otherwise discriminatory and/or illegal posts, comments and content must be refrained from, will be deleted by us and, if necessary, reported to the respective platform operator. If, for example, a criminal offence is also committed, a report will be made to the relevant authorities. Please refrain from provocation.
  • Spam and commercial and private advertising for goods, services or similar are prohibited and will be deleted by us.
  • If you refer to quotations or works by third parties in your contributions, you must label the relevant sources and/or indicate the corresponding authors.
  • Please be aware that posts and discussions - apart from direct messages - are generally visible to the public. For this reason, personal, private data should only be posted after careful consideration. Personal data of third parties may not be published and will be removed by us.
  • You are responsible for the contributions and content you post.
  • As the channel operator, we insist on compliance with these discussion rules, check all posts accordingly and will not tolerate any violations. We reserve the right to delete posts and other content at any time and without giving reasons in the event of violations, and if necessary to report them and block accounts.
  • By interacting on our social media channels, you recognise these guidelines. Please note: For legal reasons, it is not possible to submit applications, lodge objections, transmit documents or similar via the social media presence of the City of Rodgau.
