Sewer inspection: Rodgau Municipal Utilities carry out fog tests in Nieder-Roden

Rodgau Municipal Utilities is carrying out a comprehensive inspection of the sewerage network in the industrial estate in Nieder-Roden. Between 17 August and 4 September inclusive, the network will be inspected for incorrect connections and leaks using a so-called smoke test. The aim of this measure is to prevent clean rainwater from entering the sewage system, thereby reducing the load on the sewage treatment plant, particularly during heavy rainfall. At the same time, however, the aim is to ensure that no sewage seeps unnoticed into the groundwater. During the testing process, an environmentally friendly, odourless artificial mist is introduced into the sewer system, which travels through the pipework. The mist looks similar to smoke, but there is no fire hazard whatsoever; it is odourless, leaves no residue and is harmless to humans and animals. The fire brigade and the police have been informed of the work. Therefore, there is no need to make an emergency call if the mist is seen on roads or roofs. Residents of the affected streets will be informed directly this week with further details and information on the measures to be taken.
