Traffic monitoring

  • Service description

German traffic law is made up of a large number of different laws. The most important traffic laws are the Road Traffic Act (StVG) and, building on this legal basis, the Road Traffic Regulations (StVO), the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), the Vehicle Licensing Regulations (FZV) and the Driving Licence Regulations (FeV). Together they regulate the personal requirements for participation in road traffic, important rules of behaviour, necessary vehicle standards and the transport of persons and property on the various traffic routes. Traffic monitoring measures contribute to improving road safety. Traffic controls, for example, are part of traffic monitoring. These tasks are carried out by the police and the auxiliary police officers of the cities and municipalities. Monitoring stationary traffic is the responsibility of the towns and municipalities and the police.

Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure under "Road Traffic Regulations".
