Wish-grandparents project
The "Wunsch-Großeltern" ("Wishful Grandparents") project of the city of Rodgau aims to bring generations together. It is a wish,
- give older people the opportunity to spend time with children, and
- to provide young families with additional "ideal grandparents".
Project & Idea
The children sometimes miss grandma and grandpa, who might read them a story or go to the playground.
Young parents, especially newcomers, often live with their children without grandparents in the neighbourhood. And there are more mature people without children or whose children have moved away who would like to take on the role of grandma or grandad from time to time.
Registration process
- You complete the online registration service, which asks you about the initial framework conditions.
- We will contact you and suggest a "suitable counterpart"
- An initial meeting to get to know each other takes place in the family centre in an atmosphere of trust.
- Then the family with children and the "grandparents" decide for themselves,
- whether and how things will continue,
- how often they meet,
- how they spend their time together.
Of course you can help each other, but the idea is not to provide a "free and permanent babysitting service or domestic help".
The family centre will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
