Service description
If you are a German citizen living abroad, you can still vote in the European elections.
To do so, you must apply to be entered in the electoral register.Procedure
You can register as a German expatriate in the electoral roll for the European elections as follows:
- You submit an application in accordance with Annex 2 of the European Electoral Regulations to the last city or municipality in which you lived or otherwise usually resided before moving abroad.
- If you have never lived in Germany, the application must be submitted to the Berlin Mitte district office.
- The authority decides on the application and at the same time sends out postal voting documents or a negative decision

Prerequisites
You can be entered in the
electoral roll as a German or German national living abroad if you- are German or German within the meaning of Article 116 (1) of the Basic Law,
- are at least 18 years old on election day
- are not excluded from the right to vote
- have been resident or otherwise ordinarily resident in a Member State of the European Union for at least 3 months on election day, or
- have lived or otherwise habitually resided in the Federal Republic of Germany for at least three months without interruption after reaching the age of 14 and this residence does not date back more than 25 years, or
- you have acquired personal and direct familiarity with the political situation in the Federal Republic of Germany for other reasons and are affected by it,
- in all cases have submitted a written application in accordance with Annex 2 to the European Electoral Regulations by the 21st day before the election, which includes a corresponding declaration in lieu of an oath that you are not voting in any other member state or in any other German municipality
