Neighbourhood complaints
Service description
A peaceful relationship between neighbours is a valuable asset that must be maintained and preserved. In day-to-day coexistence, however, noise and odour pollution can cause nuisance and disturbance.
If you have a complaint, first speak to the person causing the noise. If you are unable to find a solution through dialogue and continue to feel unreasonably annoyed, you can contact the relevant monitoring authorities.
Procedure
If you have any complaints, please contact your municipal or local authority or, in serious cases, the relevant police authority. If necessary, the authorities will check on site whether noise, air pollution or odours are causing a significant nuisance to the neighbourhood and take the necessary measures (e.g. switching off a music system). Unnecessary and unreasonable nuisance can be punished with a fine as an administrative offence.

What else should I know?
In residential areas, you may mow the lawn, scarify, drill holes or operate a chainsaw on weekdays between 7:00 am and 8:00 pm. A midday rest period may only be observed if this is provided for in the relevant municipal bylaws. This applies to pure, general or special residential areas as well as in recreational, spa and clinic areas. There are no time restrictions during the day in mixed, commercial or industrial areas.
There are different regulations for brush cutters, grass trimmers or grass edge trimmers, leaf blowers or leaf collectors. These may only be operated in residential and spa/clinic areas on working days from 9.00 am to 1.00 pm and from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm. Further regulations on rest on Sundays and public holidays remain unaffected, i.e. the devices may not be used on these days.
