The activities of the Biotope Network and Species Conservation department focus on the creation, preservation and maintenance of measures to protect and conserve nature and the landscape in the Rodgau district.

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Support for measures to preserve biodiversity and endangered species
  • Development and financing of appropriate measures
  • Creation of new or maintenance of existing feeding and development habitats
  • Implementation of legally binding measures to compensate for and replace structural interventions in nature and the landscape, e.g. in the context of new construction areas and construction projects
  • Identification of areas that are worth preserving and can be ecologically upgraded from a nature conservation perspective
  • Statements on environmentally relevant projects
  • Implementation of the Water Framework Directive and watercourse renaturalisation
  • Together with the Environment
    • Preparation of the annual environmental report with a wide range of environmental topics
    • Environmental counselling for citizens on environmentally relevant topics
