"KiJuPa" elected
A total of 2,714 children and young people aged between 12 and 18 were personally invited by the city council to vote online for the city’s new Children and Young People’s Parliament. From a field of 19 candidates, those eligible to vote cast 308 votes to elect 15 representatives who will represent their interests in future. The four candidates who were not elected will also have the opportunity to join the parliament via the reserve list for the entire 2026–2028 term of office. The average age of those elected is 13½ years.
First inaugural meeting
The inaugural meeting of the newly elected Children’s and Youth Parliament will take place on 24 September at 6.30 pm in the Town Council Chamber at the Town Hall, Hintergasse 15. At this first meeting, the newly elected children and young people will elect a chairperson and two deputy chairpersons from among their ranks. All residents, particularly the children and young people of Rodgau, are warmly invited to attend this special inaugural meeting and to find out more about the work of the new body.
Concept and tasks
In the Children’s and Young People’s Parliament, all young people from Rodgau can contribute their ideas and play an active role in shaping the future of their town. In doing so, they experience democracy first-hand, take on responsibility and give the concerns of the younger generation a strong voice in local politics. Members learn how democratic decision-making processes work, develop their own ideas and work together to implement projects that are close to their hearts. Their involvement fosters personal development whilst also helping to make the town of Rodgau more youth-friendly and forward-looking as a whole.
