Time Together – workshops, theatre and readings for all generations

The Senior Citizens’ Advisory Service and the Family Centre of the town of Rodgau have put together a varied and exciting programme for senior citizens, parents, grandparents and anyone else who is interested. As every autumn, the overarching theme of ‘Time Together’ encompasses intergenerational activities, most of which are free of charge. This year, for the first time in the social and cultural programme, there will be a relaxed ‘Babbel-Café’ covering various topics, as well as a theatre performance by the ‘Roßdörfer Spätlese’ theatre group, which focuses on protecting oneself against scams. In addition, there will be a reading by the author Ms Edith Mandler, and a hands-on herbal workshop on creating a home first-aid kit. Topics relating to prevention and safety are also well covered. There are activities such as fall prevention with practical exercises, a talk on ‘Experiencing and Understanding Dementia’, a fire safety training session covering everything from smoke alarms to fire extinguishers, as well as information on navigating the digital world and digital legacy. Particular emphasis is placed on intergenerational activities, such as the preparatory course ‘Fit for Grandparenthood’ for expectant grandparents, a short course on first aid for children, an information afternoon on the ‘Dream Grandparents’ project and the important topic ‘Supporting the process of saying goodbye – talking to children about death and grief’. Further information can be found in the ‘Miteinander-Zeit’ brochure, which is available at the town hall, the Citizens’ Service Centre, the Senior Citizens’ Advice Centre and the Family Centre. The information is also available online at www.rodgau.de/de/aktuelles/projekte-aktionen.
