Michael Kibler, from Darmstadt, will be reading from his crime novel *Bunkermädchen* on Friday 18 September at 7.30 pm at the Nieder-Roden Municipal Library. Private detective Steffen Horndeich and his partner Jana Welzer are investigating a 40-year-old cold case. Back then, a 24-year-old woman was found murdered next to a World War II bunker in Darmstadt. Five people were living illegally in the bunker at the time, yet no witnesses – let alone the perpetrator – were ever found. The investigators uncover clues that shed new light on the crime. Can the case be solved after 40 years? Michael Kibler was born in Heilbronn in 1963 and is a passionate resident of Darmstadt. He studied at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt, majoring in German Studies with minors in Film Studies and Psychology. Kibler is a member of the Syndikat – the authors’ group for German-language crime fiction. He also offers readings, guided tours of Darmstadt, crime-themed walks and writing workshops as part of his ‘Kibler live’ programme. The event is part of the Leseland Hessen literature festival, with the kind support of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture, the Sparkassen Cultural Foundation of Hesse-Thuringia and hr2 Kultur.
