Once again this year, 78 artists will be showcasing their works at RODGAU ART at the Bürgerhaus Nieder Roden, Römerstraße 15, from 30 October to 1 November, treating visitors to a visual feast. As ever, the selection is diverse and varied, ensuring there is something to suit every taste. Visitors can discover interesting techniques, extremely precise animal drawings, sculptures made from various materials, skilful paintings, extraordinary photography, intriguing mixed-media works, touching everyday motifs and more. The expansive cyanotype installation ‘LICHT.WASSER.BLAU’ sets the scene impressively. Inspiring combinations of ceramics with woven art, paintings on corrugated iron and sculptures made from ‘Rodgau amber’ invite visitors to marvel and explore. The artist who has travelled the furthest this year is from Hamburg and paints in oil on pages from second-hand books. Twenty-four of the exhibitors are from Rodgau, eight of whom are taking part for the first time. Almost half of all the exhibitors are new to ART. The artists will be on hand to chat with visitors and answer questions. Many of the works are also available for purchase – a wonderful opportunity to acquire an original. On Sunday, a workshop discussion moderated by Winno Sahm will take place on the theme of ‘Animals in Art’. Three exhibitors who specialise in animal painting will talk about their works and offer fascinating insights into their artistic practice. As usual, volunteers from the SOS Helferkreis will be on hand throughout the weekend to cater for guests’ refreshments. The Department of Culture, Sport and Volunteering looks forward to welcoming numerous visitors to the opening reception on Friday 30 October, featuring drinks at affordable prices. Mayor Max Breitenbach will give the opening address. On Saturday, the exhibition is open from 2 pm to 7 pm and on Sunday from 11 am to 6 pm. Admission is free. The popular catalogue is available on site for 2 euros for those wishing to revisit the exhibition at home.
