Claudia Ulrich, head of Nursery 12 on Binger Weg, is celebrating a special anniversary with the town of Rodgau. She can look back on 40 years in the civil service. After working in Dreieich, Dietzenbach and Mainhausen, her career path led her to Rodgau in 1993. After starting out at the Nordring and Alter Weg nurseries – where her paths crossed early on with the current mayor, Max Breitenbach – she took over as head of Nursery 12 on 1 February 2013. First Councillor Janika Martin thanked Ulrich for her decades of service to Rodgau’s nursery sector and presented her with a well-stocked gift basket alongside a bouquet of flowers. The work at Kita 12, which also cares for children with special educational needs, is truly a labour of love for Ulrich. She is now looking after the children of her former charges. She proved just how unflappable she is, amongst other things, when she kept her cool after a corn snake strayed onto the nursery grounds. Her team values her for her clear, transparent leadership. The youngest children summed up how they see their ‘boss’ with a smile: in the office, she writes letters, takes photos and tells everyone, ‘You need to go and have a drink.’ In her moving speech, Ulrich threw her planned speech out of the window and spontaneously thanked her colleagues, her team and her family from the bottom of her heart. Despite many challenges in recent years, she is delighted that tangible progress is being made. Instead of personal gifts, the honouree asked for donations to the Child Protection Association, of which she has been a long-standing member.
