Qualified electrician for specific tasks
Eight men took part in a seminar organised by the town of Rodgau and run by the A.V.B. Academy, where they undertook training to become ‘electrical specialists for specified tasks’, or ‘EKFffT’ for short. What made these two weeks – comprising both theory and practical training – special was that the participants came together at Rodgau Town Hall from different local authorities, and one of them communicated via sign language. The latter was more of a side note, as communication worked wonderfully well with the support of sign language interpreters.
Training course leading to a qualification
The training course taught participants the fundamentals of electrical engineering and provided them with practical, basic knowledge. The aim was to equip them with the skills to carry out precisely defined electrical work professionally and safely within their respective fields. To this end, course leader Joachim Kraß had to bring along a great deal of equipment. Each participant thus had their ‘own’ workstation and was able to put the theory into practice straight away. What they had learnt was tested once more via a written test and the final examination, and confirmed with a certificate. The local authorities benefit from shorter communication channels and lower costs, as they can now assign certain tasks directly to their own staff. The trained staff can now, amongst other things, use measuring equipment and analyse faults, connect electrical equipment, or identify electrical hazards and implement protective measures.
