Rodgau is opening a "library of things" on 3 June. In the spirit of sustainability, items can then be borrowed from the Nieder-Roden public library on Puiseauxplatz. Borrowing instead of buying is a particularly sustainable way of using things. Libraries have always made an important contribution to sustainable development by lending out books and other media. This traditional offer is being expanded and supplemented with "temporary stuff". Items that are rarely used or that you simply want to try out can be borrowed free of charge with a library card. This reduces mispurchases and fewer items end up unused in basements or storerooms. In addition to typical library items such as e-book readers and Tonie boxes, there are now also large games, sports equipment and educational robots to choose from. So the next children's birthday party can be organised with "can throwing" and "egg run" or a spontaneous game can be started on the puiseaux court with a boules set. Children's urge to move can be satisfied in a variety of ways with pedalos, can stilts or a balance board. Curious and inquisitive children will love the "Dash" educational robot or the digital microscope. The public library has deliberately refrained from offering items that could be hygienically questionable. A list of all items that can be borrowed can be viewed in the online catalogue of the public library. The Library of Things was made possible by an allocation of funds from the municipal financial equalisation scheme of the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture. The team at the public library will be happy to answer any questions about the service by telephone on 693-1322 or by email at buecherei@rodgau.de.
