Volker Kühnle celebrates 40 years of service

Volker Kühnle has been serving the town of Rodgau for 40 years. This is reason enough to honour his long-standing and dedicated service at a ceremony. After completing his apprenticeship as a metalworker, he began his career at the town of Rodgau’s sewage treatment works. For the first six years, he was the stream warden, responsible for everything to do with the River Rodau. Since 1992, as equipment manager in the fire service’s administrative office, he has been looking after the equipment and vehicles of the volunteer fire brigade. He was thus one of the first four members of staff in the administrative office. The mayor, the staff council, the head of the fire service headquarters, Christian Hinrichs, and his colleagues appreciate not only his dedication but also Volker Kühnle as a person. Mayor Max Breitenbach also expressed his thanks, on behalf of all the mayors who had held office during Kühnle’s tenure, for his “service to Rodgau”. His exceptional technical skills and his dedication were praised. An anecdote about an incident at the fire station in Dudenhofen on Christmas Day received special mention at the anniversary celebration. The heating had broken down during the night and Volker Kühnle did not return to his family until the early hours of the morning – naturally, the problem had to be sorted out first. This is a prime example of the passion with which he works to find solutions, alongside colleagues and service members, to address the needs of the fire service, both professionally and in a voluntary capacity. The honouree looks back with satisfaction on his years of service and looks forward to many more. Finally, surrounded by officials, colleagues and family, he emphasised that he always sees himself as a public servant. He said it has always been important to him to think through work processes, get to the bottom of things and do the very best he can.
