This year’s summer holiday games kicked off at 9 am on Monday morning in Jügesheim. Under the fitting theme of ‘Summer Festival’, around 100 cheerful children gathered in the grounds of the Wilhelm Busch School to kick off their school holidays together. The opening ceremony, attended by Mayor Max Breiten, took place outdoors despite a brief rain shower. A varied and colourful programme awaits the participants over the coming days. The children can let off steam through sport, creative activities and play in projects of their own choosing. In addition to the activities organised by the on-site carers, the first highlights have already been finalised. Plans include trips to the surrounding woodland recreation areas as well as a group outing to the Lochmühle amusement park. The primary aim of the council’s holiday care programme is to offer the children a carefree and enjoyable holiday full of experiences. Through numerous group games and plenty of free play, the sense of community amongst the children is also specifically fostered, enabling the children of Jügesheim to make new friends quickly.
