A touch of Swedish summer atmosphere will descend on Puiseauxplatz in Nieder-Roden on 4 August at 7.30 pm. Susanne Gertler will take the audience on a journey through the life and work of the extraordinary author Astrid Lindgren with this open-air reading. Andreas Held will provide the musical accompaniment. Pippi Longstocking, Emil from Lönneberga, Ronia the Robber’s Daughter and many more – Astrid Lindgren’s characters revolutionised children’s literature. With her books, she has delighted millions of children and adults, and continues to do so to this day. The event is organised by Rodgau Municipal Library and takes place as part of the South Hesse Cultural Summer. ‘KUSS’ (Kultursommer Südhessen) e.V. is an association of five districts in southern Hesse (Bergstraße, Darmstadt-Dieburg, Groß-Gerau, Odenwald, Offenbach) and the science city of Darmstadt, which promotes cultural events in the region. To this end, “KUSS” publishes an annual calendar of events. Kultursommer Südhessen e.V. is funded by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Art and Culture, and supported by the Sparkassen Cultural Foundation of Hesse-Thuringia.
