At public events, it is also a question of how to secure them as effectively as possible against hazards. Those responsible have images of vehicles driving into crowds of people in their heads and want to prevent such a scenario as far as possible. Up to now, mostly heavy vehicles and occasionally private cars have been used as vehicle barriers at critical points. The city of Rodgau has now purchased 30 mobile vehicle barriers and makes them available to event organisers as required. These foldable containers have an empty weight of around 11 kilograms and are easy to transport in a large car boot. They are quick and easy to set up. In order to achieve the vital effect of slowing down a vehicle, 2 of the containers must always be placed next to each other. Each one holds 1,500 litres of water and therefore weighs 1.5 tonnes. If a vehicle hits the container, it bursts and is not pushed on as an additional hazard. The vehicle itself is massively damaged and, above all, prevented from travelling on. As soon as events are registered with the city, information on the so-called Indutainers is also provided with the necessary authorisation, from which the handling results. The water can be requested as service water from the sewage treatment plant via two farmers to be commissioned for a flat-rate fee. At the end of the event, the water is drained and flows back into the sewage treatment plant through the sewerage system. No drinking water is used.
