Cats
In Rodgau, the cat protection ordinance adopted by the municipal council on 24 November 2025 has been in force since 7 December 2025.
Cat owners must pay attention to their cats that are capable of reproducing outside the home:
The cat must...
- be neutered
- carry a forgery-proof, permanently implanted, electronically readable transponder (microchip) in accordance with the ISO standard - additional identification can be tattooed
- must be registered in a free, recognised pet register
Reasons for the measures
- Cat owners thus make a contribution to animal welfare, as stray, feral cats are often exposed to diseases or mistreatment
- The uncontrolled reproduction of cats has negative consequences for the environment
