Municipal bodies
The municipal self-administration of the town of Rodgau is exercised by the following bodies in accordance with the Hessian Municipal Code (HGO).
City council meeting

In accordance with Section 9 HGO (Hessian Municipal Code), the municipal council is the supreme body of the city.
Its 45 members are elected by the citizens of Rodgau every five years in a municipal election. The municipal council decides on all local political matters in Rodgau. According to §§ 50 ff. HGO in particular:
- Issuing, amending and cancelling statutes under public law
- Approval of important projects and plans
- Preparation, amendment and cancellation of development plans and land use plans
- Resolution on the budget
Fractions
City councillors can form a parliamentary group in accordance with Section 36a HGO. Further details are regulated by the rules of procedure of the municipal council. Political groups are usually formed on the basis of party affiliation and have at least two members. Political groups can form coalitions in order to form a majority in the municipal council. Their tasks include
- Preliminary discussion of topics in parliamentary group meetings
- Submission of motions
- Making enquiries to the magistrate
- Decision advice in political debates
The following parliamentary groups are represented in the City Council:
Magistrate
In accordance with Section 66 HGO, the municipal council is the administrative authority of the city of Rodgau and implements the resolutions of the city council.
It consists of nine members. In addition to the Mayor and the First City Councillor, a total of seven other City Councillors were delegated to the Magistrate by the parliamentary groups in the City Council. It meets in private. Its tasks include
- Management of the city administration
- Preparation and implementation of resolutions by the City Council
- Implementation of laws, ordinances and directives
- Personnel matters of the city administration
Committees
Specialised committees have been formed to prepare the resolutions of the City Council. The chairmen of the parliamentary groups may also attend the committee meetings in an advisory capacity.

Advisory boards
Advisory councils represent the interests of specific population groups, thus enabling their participation in the political process and contributing overall to the citizen-centred shaping of municipal policy.
Foreigners' Advisory Council
The Foreigners' Advisory Council is the elected representative of the interests of the non-German population in accordance with § 88 HGO. Its members advise the city on matters that affect foreign residents. Its main tasks are to promote the equality and integration of the foreign population at municipal level and to represent the political, social and cultural interests of the foreign population in the city.
Children's and youth parliament
The Children's and Youth Parliament represents the interests of Rodgau's children and young people and brings them into the city's politics. Its main task is to raise awareness and draw attention to the concerns and interests of children and young people and to organise events or participatory projects for children and young people in cooperation with the administration.
