Overview of urban development

Urban development encompasses all processes and measures aimed at determining how the city of Rodgau should develop in the future.

Urban development vs. urban planning

In contrast to urban planning, which is primarily concerned with building law and construction issues, urban development looks at many different areas of life. It thus combines economic, ecological and social issues.

Urban development issues

  • What does our city need?
  • What makes them special?
  • Where should it develop?
  • How do we create attractive public spaces?
  • How can climate protection and quality of life be harmonised?

Urban development is a long-term and dynamic process that involves many different stakeholders, including politicians, businesses and citizens.

Tasks

The central tasks include

  • Management and coordination of the city's overall development
  • Coordination of different measures for a meaningful interaction
  • Work on a common, strategic orientation

Another important component is citizen participation, because urban development should happen together with the people. This makes participation simple, direct and accessible to everyone via the participation platform.

Projects

In addition, the Urban Development Department is responsible for coordinating a number of projects, such as the ‘Social Cohesion’ urban development funding programme or the development of the new ‘Rodgau West’ residential area, each of which involves collaboration between a wide variety of stakeholders and sectors. The implementation of the “Zuhause im Zentrum” funding programme also fell within the remit of the Urban Development Department. The programme has now been completed.

Inner city development strategy

The town of Rodgau has developed an internal development strategy to make better and more targeted use of existing areas within the urban area, while also taking into account factors such as climate and infrastructure.

Citizen participation

The city has launched a participation platform to gather and collect opinions, ideas and perspectives from the public. A new opinion poll has also been set up on the platform, which is used to regularly gauge public opinion on important issues affecting everyday life. Get involved and tell us what matters to you. We look forward to your contributions.
