Fire safety training for senior citizens in Rodgau

The training focuses on important everyday issues: How do I make an emergency call correctly in an emergency? How does a smoke alarm work – and what should I do if the alarm goes off? Participants are given clear and practical explanations to enable them to act safely and calmly in an emergency.

A particular highlight is the appearance of a firefighter wearing breathing apparatus. This provides a clear explanation of why firefighters wear special protective clothing and breathing apparatus during indoor operations, and why, despite their unusual appearance, they are not meant to cause fear. This helps to dispel any reservations and foster an understanding of the work carried out by the fire service.

In addition, participants will be shown how to use a fire extinguisher correctly and will also have the opportunity to practise this under expert guidance. The aim is to instil confidence in dealing with small fires and to overcome any reservations.

With this initiative, the Rodgau Fire Brigade aims to reach out specifically to older residents, provide them with information on important safety measures and, at the same time, give them a transparent and hands-on insight into the work of the fire brigade.
