Jazz Night 212 - THE PLEBs
The PLEBs - they are the people ... the modern minstrels, the travelling musicians who stroll through the history of pop/rock.
As knowledgeable as they are musically high-class, they trawl through the songbook of high-calibre, modern folk songs of planet pop and create their own idiosyncratic new versions of great pop classics - as ambitious as they are popular, just typical of The PLEBs.
The front woman of the Rodgau Monotones, Kerstin Pfau, is the voice of The PLEBs. The virtuoso jazz guitarist Thomas Langer bridges the gap between rock fans and jazz fans. The rhythm section with Rodgau Monotones bassist Joky Becker and big band-trained drummer Matthias Schwappacher provides a solid basis for musical international understanding.
Songs by Amy Winehouse, the Stones, Amos Lee, the Police, the Who and many others are playfully jazzed up and rocked with relish. The four of them also have some of their own arrangements up their sleeves for a promising fusion of jazz and rock.
