Matchbox Bluesband Xmas Show

After the Matchbox Bluesband created a pre-Christmas atmosphere last year, the traditional blues combo is returning to the Maximal on Friday, 12 December with its Christmas show: with a bag full of blues and R&B Christmas songs, some of them funny, but always rousing. Mr Santa's Got The Blues!

The Matchbox Bluesband has been playing traditional blues in many shades for over 40 years. Starting with classic Chicago blues, the repertoire also includes swinging rhythm & blues, earthy down-home blues and acoustic styles. The long-term stability of the line-up has led to an extremely homogeneous group sound that is authentic, individual and captivating in equal measure. Another trademark is the frequent use of polyphonic backing vocals.

With Klaus "Mojo" Kilian (Blues Louis Award winner 2016) on blues harp and Bernd Simon on guitar, the band has two of the leading soloists of traditional blues in Germany, both of whom are also excellent singers. The band is completed by Wolfgang Lieberwirth, double bass/backing vocals and Thomas Frömming, drums/backing vocals.
