Local courts
Service description
Local courts provide citizens and courts with important assistance and help to save costs. As auxiliary authorities of the judiciary, they are partners for many personal matters.
In Hesse, there is at least one local court for each municipality.
Each local court has at least 5 members: the head of the local court and 4 local court lay judges. Local court members are honorary civil servants who are appointed by the president or director of the relevant local court on the recommendation of the municipality.
The tasks of the local courts include
- Notarisation of signatures and copies of public or private documents;
- Securing estates;
- Preparation of estate inventories;
- Issue of death notifications;
- Valuation of real estate, movable property and the like at the request of an interested party or at the request of an authority;
- Participation in the determination of property boundaries.
What fees are incurred?
Fees are charged for official acts of the local court in accordance with the scale of fees for local courts in the state of Hesse.
