Central trade register information
Service description
Upon request, any natural or legal person can obtain information on the offences against trade law provisions entered in the central trade register and legally binding decisions on fines for trade law offences, insofar as they relate to their person or business. Information from the central trade register is required in a large number of licensing procedures.
The information from the central trade register is issued by the Federal Office of Justice in Bonn.
The information can be applied for by a natural person who has reached the age of 18. The municipal administrations (municipal councils) of the municipalities of residence are responsible for this. You cannot be represented when making the application.
A legal entity can also apply for information from the Central Trade Register. In this case, the official responsibility for accepting the application depends on the registered office of the company (place of entry in the commercial register). The application must be submitted by the legal representative of the company.

Which documents are required?
- In the case of information for a natural person:
valid identity card or passport of the applicant; if the passport is presented, also a current registration certificate - In the case of information for a legal entity:

- Extract from the commercial register
- In the case of information for submission to an authority, also:
the address of the authority and the purpose of use or the reference number

What fees are incurred?
The fee is 13.00 euros.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
The Federal Office of Justice usually takes less than a week to prepare the application. However, delays may occur, especially if the postal transmission takes longer. Please clarify urgent cases with the municipal administration of your place of residence or company headquarters.
