Place of residence - deregistration of the sole or main residence
Service description
If you move out of your sole residence and do not move into another residence in Germany, you must deregister. This is usually the case if you move abroad.
If you move within Germany, you do not have to deregister. All you need to do is register with your new municipality.

There are no fees.
What deadlines do I have to observe?
You must deregister with the registration office within 2 weeks of moving out of the flat. You can deregister in the week before you move out of the flat.

What else should I know?
In the case of persons under the age of 16, care must be taken to ensure that they are deregistered by the person from whose home they are moving out.
