Trade register, information

  • Service description

The trade register, a list of local businesses, is kept by the local authorities. The registration, re-registration and deregistration of a business, a branch or a dependent branch office must be reported.
The transmission of the simple information includes the 3 basic data name/company name, address and activity of the trader and is transmitted on request without further checks.

Extended information data, such as private residential address, date of birth, start and, if applicable, end of employment, can be transmitted to non-public bodies (e.g. private individuals) provided that the person requesting the information can credibly demonstrate a legal interest (Section 14 (8) GewO). In addition to the conclusive presentation by the person requesting the information (details of why additional data is required, e.g. home address, etc.), the presentation of relevant documents (e.g. purchase contract, reminder) is also required.

  • What fees are incurred?

The fee for information from the trade register is generally between €10.00 and €30.50; if research by the field service is required, the fee is calculated according to the time required.
In the case of information on a definable group of persons, so-called group information, the fee is generally between 7.50 euros and 15.00 euros per person, but at least 76.50 euros.

  • Legal basis

  • What else should I know?

The trade register is not a public register. As such, it does not enjoy public trust like the commercial register, for example.
