Neighbourhood celebrates a colourful festival together

This year's neighbourhood party in Seestraße in Nieder-Roden was once again a complete success. The weather was perfect and numerous residents, young and old, came together. Together with the Seestraße day-care centre, the Nieder Roden district office (community work in the town of Rodgau) has brought together a number of associations, institutions and initiatives. They transformed the large car park on Seestraße into a colourful fairground where children played, culinary delights, numerous attractions and, above all, encounters took place. The aim of the event was to activate the Seestrasse neighbourhood and revitalise the area. This year, the information stands for adults and the hands-on stations for children organised by Caritas with refugee counselling and sports coaches, the Kinderschutzbund, WISA e. V., the Diversity and Education Office and the district office provided great opportunities for encounters and exchanges. "King Martial Arts", another highlight, put on a self-defence performance in which the children were able to take part and experience the techniques for themselves. Those interested were given a unique insight into the life of wild bees at the adventure beekeeping centre in Rodgau. Visitors were able to sow bee-friendly plants and take them home with them. On the grounds of the "Terrassenhaus", the storyteller rounded off the programme with his hands-on stories. All the stands were connected by a chain of pennants from the "Chain of pennants for Rodgau" project. The festival also had plenty of culinary delights to offer: Numerous local residents contributed tasty donations. The course has been set for a successful repeat next year and it is possible that some of the new ideas from and for the neighbourhood will be implemented sooner. Community work is a project of the city's Municipal Education Management department and is funded by the state of Hesse. Various activities, such as the neighbourhood festival, enable local social participation and self-efficacy.
