Vhs: Teachers' commitment honoured

The Rodgau Adult Education Centre (vhs) is celebrating several significant teaching anniversaries this year. First City Councillor Janika Martin honours the many years of commitment and outstanding work of the lecturers, who play a key role in shaping the wide range of courses offered by the vhs. "Our lecturers are the heart of the vhs," emphasises First City Councillor Janika Martin. "With their expertise, their passion and their tireless commitment, they enable our citizens to enjoy lifelong learning and personal development. I am proud of the quality and diversity they bring to our educational institution." The following jubilees deserve special mention: Eva Roth, who has been leading exercise classes at vhs Rodgau for 25 years, is celebrating an exceptional anniversary. With her B licence as an exercise instructor for sports in prevention "Posture and Exercise" and as a specialist fitness and health instructor, Eva Roth has in-depth specialist knowledge. Her courses are characterised by professionalism, empathy and a feel for the needs of the participants. Originally active as a lecturer in children's jazz gymnastics and as an exercise instructor at TG Nieder-Roden, she now specialises in fitness and gymnastics courses for older people. Her unbroken loyalty to the vhs is also due to the persuasiveness and loyalty of her course participants, who have always motivated her to continue. Ingrid Verstraeten-Funk has been a permanent fixture in the field of Italian courses for 33 years. With her special manner, she has not only imparted language skills, but also created deep, long-lasting friendships within her courses. Her motivating and varied lesson organisation, often enriched with games, music and culinary interludes, never fails to inspire her participants. Even joint "class trips" to Italy have been on the programme. Even then, the demands and encouragement of the popular and highly esteemed lecturer never fell by the wayside. Gertrud Stemper has been enriching the arts and crafts programme for 10 years. Originally from Banat in Romania and a trained teacher and educator, Mrs Stemper discovered her passion for soapstone in Germany. In her courses, she not only teaches the technique of soapstone work, but also encourages participants to develop their creativity. As an active artist, she regularly exhibits her own sculptures, often at Rodgau Art, and is an award-winning poet. Rüdiger Wagner has also been a lecturer in the areas of movement courses and job application training for 10 years. With an impressive background in sales and numerous qualifications including business administration, Mr Wagner has been passing on his knowledge and experience as a trainer and coach since 2010. He has been successfully offering "Functional Training" since 2018 and attaches great importance to further training and innovative course content. Since 2023, he has also been supporting young people with job application training as part of Rodgau 16+. He is particularly keen to work with people with disabilities and his vhs course is open to all participants. Angelika Hob is celebrating her 5th anniversary as a lecturer for exercise courses. As a businesswoman for forwarding and logistics services, she brings organisational talent, dynamism and stamina to her teaching work. With a DOSB C licence for popular sports and numerous further training courses in fitness, such as indoor cycling and fascia Pilates, Angelika Hob always designs her courses to be varied and in line with the latest sports science. She was referred by an experienced sports instructor and enriches the vhs sports programme with her fresh ideas and enthusiasm, which she has already successfully demonstrated in spinning courses at the JSK club. Head of Department Stefan Jaud congratulates all those celebrating anniversaries on behalf of the town on their achievements and thanks them for their tireless commitment, which makes the Rodgau Adult Education Centre a lively place of learning and encounter.
