The remuneration of municipal employees is governed by a collective labour agreement, the TVöD. This also provides for performance pay or a so-called "alternative pay incentive system", which is part of the salary. Until now, this remuneration has been determined individually through an appraisal and paid out as a one-off benefit. The city would now like to take a different approach in agreement with the staff representatives. In future, it will pay employees a fixed monthly amount as a tax-free benefit in kind via a credit to their personal rodgaucard. This means that around 300,000 euros will flow into the rodgaucard system every year. Money that the employer, the city of Rodgau, is obliged to pay out anyway is thus guaranteed to remain in Rodgau. In this way, it directly and exclusively benefits the local economy or the affiliated partner companies of the rodgaucard and at the same time the municipal employees have more net from gross. This makes the town the first employer to pay tax-free benefits in kind into the rodgaucard system. Those responsible hope that other Rodgau employers will follow this example. Mayor Max Breitenbach sees this decision as a clear commitment to the rodgaucard and hopes that even more companies will decide to join the rodgaucard as points partners. Anyone with questions about the system is welcome to contact the rodgaucard team by e-mail at punkten@rodgau.de.
