"See what fits" in the Rodgau Gallery

"Gucken, was passt" is the new title of the exhibition in the Rodgau Gallery, Nieuwpoorter Straße 90, which opens on Sunday, 2 February at 2 pm. The title came about during a conversation in which it was explored how the works of both artists would fit together. Frankfurt-based artist Sabine Gaiser-Koch is a self-taught painter. She began her artistic career with rather large-format still life table scenes, plant and fish motifs. In the process, she explored stripe and pattern paintings and colour and form compositions. Today, she paints large-format, abstract, non-uniform, monochrome paintings with acrylic and smaller paintings in oil, which are inspired by "life in water". The artist Andreas Gundermann studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Braunschweig, specialising in painting. He has lived and worked in Frankfurt since 1986. Initially, he focussed on large-format representational paintings, such as industrial landscapes and construction machinery. Later, his works developed into abstract worlds of form. At the same time, he began to work on a variety of sculptures made from a wide range of materials. Painting backdrops, including for film and television, is just as much a part of his repertoire as his work on the floats of the "Grand Council of Frankfurt Carnival Clubs". For 15 years, he has been designing and realising the ever-changing "Karfunkel" prize statuette, the children's and youth theatre prize of the city of Frankfurt. For 25 years, he has been the head of the hanging team at the Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt. Gaiser-Koch is married to the actor Wolfram Koch, who shines in many leading roles at the Frankfurt theatre. The former actor of the Frankfurt Tatortkommissar will read from Anton Chekhov and recite Picasso quotes on art at the vernissage. Seating for the reading is limited, so early arrival is recommended. Registration is not possible. Head of Cultural Affairs Winno Sahm will welcome the guests. Information at kultur@rodgau.de.
