Caribbean to listen to - with Julia Mantel

To accompany the exhibition "Gucken, was passt" in the Rodgau-Galerie, Nieuwpoorter Straße 90, Julia Mantel will be reading from her poetry books on 9 March at 2 pm. She will entertain the audience for around 10 minutes each with humorous excerpts from "Autobiography of a Bite Wound", "HORCHDOCHLORCH" and "Wenn Du eigentlich denkst, die Karibik steht Dir zu". Born in Frankfurt am Main in 1974, she spent her childhood and youth in the Vordertaunus region. She moved to Lüneburg for a while to study Applied Cultural Studies. To earn a living, the author has gathered experience as a nude sorter, nude model, call centre agent, tutor, puppet theatre performer and asparagus seller. Since 2000, the enthusiastic knitter has focussed primarily on poetry. She has taken part in various writing workshops and founded the concept label " Unvermittelbar" www.unvermittelbar.de in 2005. Here, the Frankfurt native combines her passions of hand knitting and poetry. She has published several volumes of poetry since 2008. Since 2020, the 50-year-old has been Vice Chairwoman of the Hessian Writers' Association and a member of PEN Berlin. Her achievements have been recognised with various prizes and scholarships in recent years. After the entertaining reading, the exhibition by Sabine Gaiser-Koch and Andreas Gundermann can be viewed until 6 pm. Gaiser Koch is showing large-format monochrome acrylic paintings with fine geometric structures and smaller oil paintings inspired by "life in water". One room impresses with bright yellow paintings that dispel any winter blues. Gundermann impresses with abstract worlds of form and sculptures made from a wide variety of materials. The two go well together. There will also be a guided tour of the exhibition on 19 March at 6 pm and Paula Weilmünster and Laurens Tauber will be playing relaxed, flowing jazz at the final opening on 26 March from 6 pm. Admission is free in both cases.
