A manually movable bollard system in Rodensteinstraße protects people from maliciously entering vehicles during events. When selecting the system, the aim was to find an effective means of protection both during events and in everyday life for the shops located there. For this reason, two fixed elements were installed on the sides to allow vehicles to drive through, and two movable bollards. The movable bollards are pushed into the centre via a rail and thus close the passage if necessary. The advantage of this system is that no work had to be carried out at depth, as would have been the case with retractable bollards, for example. In addition, no underground supply lines have to be laboriously relocated. Stability and, above all, the protective effect are not reduced, despite the comparatively simple handling. Another major advantage is that the bollards remain clearly visible throughout the entire movement cycle and therefore do not suddenly appear out of nowhere.
