Two measures increase road safety in Ober-Rodener-Straße

As in Dudenhöfer Straße, Ludwigstraße and Nieuwpoorter Straße, road safety is now also being improved in Ober-Rodener-Straße through two measures: From the end of April, parking will be reorganised and the speed will be reduced to 30 km/h. Ober-Rodener-Straße is a busy main road. The use of the pavement by pedestrians, possibly with pushchairs or walking aids, wheelchair users, people on scooters or children on bicycles with accompanying adults is also increasing. Coming from the south on Rodgau-Ring-Straße, the wide carriageway with multi-purpose lane from the junction with Borsigstraße encourages higher speeds. Further along, the carriageway narrows and there is parking on both sides of the road, often half on the carriageway and half on the pavement. With increasing parking pressure, it cannot be ruled out that people who are authorised to use the pavement are at risk. They have to switch to the busy carriageway because the remaining width on the pavement is not sufficient to get past the vehicles. As the pavement widths do not permit officially ordered pavement parking in Ober-Rodener-Straße, only on-street parking will be possible in future. To this end, parking markings will be placed on both sides or staggered within which parking is permitted. This is intended to make it easier for residents to enter and exit the street, prevent parking on the pavement and significantly improve road safety for pedestrians with appropriate controls. Alternative bays for buses and lorries have been taken into account and serve to improve traffic flow. The modified parking markings eliminate parking spaces. Parking on the car park's own land is to be made even more attractive by improving the entrance and exit. In addition to accessibility, the expected higher frequency of use of private courtyards and property entrances means that it is also necessary to make it easier to drive into flowing traffic. In addition to the new car park regulations, the maximum permitted speed will therefore also be reduced from the current 50 km/h to 30 km/h. The reduced speed limits will tend to create gaps for driving in. Residents will receive written information in the next few days, while businesses on Ober-Rodener-Straße will also receive separate notices. Based on experience with similar projects, it can be assumed that it will take some time for everyone to get used to the new regulations. In this respect, everyone involved will need to be patient. The Department of Public Safety and Order will monitor the measure to ensure that overall road safety is increased and the average speed is reduced in the long term.
