To mark the nationwide "Day of Libraries" on 24 October, the Jügesheim public library invites you to a "blind date with a book". Wrapped in neutral paper and labelled with brief information about the contents, the book packages are ready and waiting to be borrowed. A mixture of all literary genres from the adult library is available to choose from. True to the saying: "Don't judge a book by its cover", don't let yourself be tempted by the cover. Only the content counts here! The books are borrowed unopened and the surprise when you unpack them is guaranteed. The blind date with a book can begin. The campaign starts on 24 October in the Jügesheim library. That's when the selection is at its largest, but anyone who wants to go on a blind date later can still choose a book package until 31 October - while stocks last. The "Day of Libraries" has been held on 24 October every year since 1995. It draws attention to the more than 9,000 libraries in Germany and recognises the achievements of libraries as indispensable cultural and educational institutions. The "Day of Libraries" was initiated by the then Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker. The German Library Association awards the "Library of the Year" prize on "Library Day" together with the Telekom Foundation and, since 2020, the "Library of the Year in Small Municipalities and Regions".
