The popular Wishing Tree campaign is taking place for the seventh time this year. It officially starts on 27 November together with the start of the Rodgau Advent market and ends on 11 December. The "Rodgau Wishing Tree" is a joint initiative of the town of Rodgau, the Rodgau Trade Association and the German Child Protection Association Rodgau e.V., which is aimed at children aged between 3 and 12 to provide necessary support for families with difficult economic and social backgrounds. This year there are even two wish trees. In addition to the familiar location on the Christmas tree in front of the town hall in the Jügesheim district, children can also leave their wishes in a red letterbox on the Christmas tree on Puiseauxplatz. Another change is that voucher wishes will no longer be honoured. The reason for this change is that the number of voucher requests has increased dramatically in recent years, and most of them are voucher requests from large online mail order companies. And this is how the Wishing Tree campaign works: the children can wish for something up to a maximum value of 25 euros. Each child who wants to take part enters their wish and their parents' full contact details on one of the divisible Wishing Tree cards. The part of the card with the contact details is then placed in the red letterbox on the wish tree at the town hall in Jügesheim or at Puiseauxplatz in Nieder-Roden, while the other part of the card should be kept by the parents. The red letterboxes are emptied daily. All data will of course be treated as strictly confidential. Wish tree cards are available from the Citizens' Service Centre at the town hall and from the customer service department of Stadtwerke. The wishes will be posted daily on the www.rodgaucard.de/Wunschbaum portal between 27 November and 11 December. All citizens who would like to make a wish come true can select a gift there, purchase the gift and then hand it in beautifully wrapped at the City of Rodgau's Citizens' Service Centre or at the customer service department of Stadtwerke Rodgau by 13 December at the latest. The gifts will be handed over to the children on 19 December at the town hall. For this, the children must bring the second part of the wish tree card they have kept. The "gift-giving" will be accompanied by Mayor Max Breitenbach and First City Councillor Janika Martin. Mrs Sybille Stallmann-Beseler, Chairwoman of the German Child Protection Association Rodgau e.V., is once again sponsoring the campaign this year.
