"Public viewing" late at night during the European Football Championship

The town of Rodgau would like to point out that a few days ago the German government passed an ordinance on noise protection for public open-air television broadcasts during this year's European Football Championship. This means that "public viewing" during the European Football Championship is also possible for late matches that take place after 9 pm. The broadcast of many matches does not start until 9 pm - the end of the match is 11 pm, but before midnight at the latest. With the ordinance, the German government is extending the scope for local authorities to authorise the public broadcasting of football matches. To do so, there must be an increased public interest and the protection of the neighbourhood from noise must be taken into account. In addition to public "public viewing" events in the open air, where European Football Championship matches are broadcast "live", the Federal Ordinance also applies to the authorisation of "public viewing" events in open-air restaurants. This includes not only beer gardens, but also outdoor catering establishments. Football broadcasts in pubs and private events, e.g. on terraces, balconies and gardens, are not covered by the ordinance. The Department of Public Safety and Order of the City of Rodgau decides in consultation with the Heusenstamm police station whether an exception is permitted. A corresponding application stating the organiser, the location of the performance and a list of the games must be submitted for the examination of eligibility for approval. One licence is granted per application for the listed games. The administrative costs amount to 62 euros, regardless of how many games are listed.
