Michael Hug has worked in the cemetery and funeral services department at Stadtwerke Rodgau for 40 years. He started working for the town at a time when seatbelts were compulsory in Germany, the private broadcaster RTL was launched, VfB Stuttgart became German champions and the German President was Richard von Weizsäcker. Since that time, Michael Hug has been jointly responsible for the condition of the cemeteries in Rodgau and he does a great job there, according to Markus Ebel-Waldmann, head of municipal utilities. The jubilarian has been the "good soul" at the new cemetery in Nieder-Roden for many years. People who come into contact with him speak very highly of Michael Hug. He is someone who recognises when something needs to be done and tackles work that lies outside his actual area of responsibility. "In addition, Michael Hug always stands out for his cheerful nature and his people-focussed approach," Ebel-Waldmann concluded his speech, thanking him for his dedication, commitment and enthusiasm for his work. Much praise and thanks for his perseverance and loyalty to the town and Stadtwerke Rodgau over 40 years also came from the staff representatives and Michael Hug's immediate superiors. In addition to his job, Michael Hug has another great passion and that is Kickers Offenbach, in whose stadium he even has a permanent seat labelled with his name. So it was only logical that the "pretty best friends" from the Eppertshausen fan club congratulated their club mate in person. As always, it was the birthday boy himself who had the last word on an anniversary in the town hall and, because he thinks of others first and foremost, he thanked his boss Christina Breuninger for her support with a fantastic bouquet of flowers. And then, after the toast "To my 40 years!", it was time to celebrate in a convivial atmosphere.
