"BerufsWegeBegleitung" project - meeting of the generations

As part of the "BerufsWegeBegleitung" project, pupils from an 8th grade class at Georg Büchner School paid a visit to the Hildegard von Bingen retirement home. The visit, which was planned together with the young people, was part of a personal development programme designed to teach the pupils social skills and empathy. They also wanted to interact with the older people and make them happy. In the run-up to the visit, the pupils designed greeting cards and well-wishing cards, which were hung on a "wishing tree" and given to the senior citizens. A few hours were spent playing board and card games together. The senior citizens were open and told the young people stories from their lives, shared their experiences and created a warm atmosphere. The encounter left a lasting impression on both groups. The aim of the "BerufsWegeBegleitung" project is to support pupils on their path into the world of work and to strengthen their personal skills at the same time. The visit to the retirement home is an example of how important social projects are for the personal development of young people.
