City of Rodgau and Westconnect sign cooperation agreement for broadband expansion

Good news for the people of Rodgau: the city and Westconnect GmbH have signed a cooperation agreement to connect around 25,000 residential and business units to the fibre optic network. The fibre optic expansion covers all Rodgau districts. Mayor Max Breitenbach was delighted: "We want to continue to make Rodgau fit for the future. Advancing the expansion of fibre optics is an important location factor both for companies and for working from home, for example. Westconnect's offer gives us an excellent opportunity to give our city a digital boost with a fibre optic connection and thus make it even more attractive." "The fibre-optic home connections are so powerful that working and learning at home, video conferencing, smart home, IP TV, surfing and streaming are all possible at the same time - stable, reliable and fast. Homeowners can benefit from free fibre-optic home connections and are not tied to booking a tariff. We stand for free competition and also make our fibre optic network available to other companies in the open access model," says Daniel Böttcher, Regional Manager of Westconnect GmbH. Marketing of the free fibre-optic house connections will begin in April 2024. Westconnect is planning several public information events, the dates of which will be announced shortly. There will be an opportunity to find out more about the project and ask questions. Westconnect and E.ON employees will also be travelling to the expansion areas to personally inform interested parties about the offers on site. In order for the construction of a free fibre optic house connection to take place, Westconnect requires the signed property owner's declaration (GEE) from the respective owners for coordination purposes. Only with this approval can smooth scheduling and construction work be guaranteed in order to lay the fibre optic cable on the private property.
