The Intercultural Weeks in Rodgau take place in the Offenbach district from 1 September to 31 October. The town of Rodgau is once again taking part in the Intercultural Weeks with a small, varied programme. A wide variety of event formats can be visited locally as part of the Intercultural Weeks. As last year, the motto of the Intercultural Weeks is "New Spaces". The events stand for creating new spaces for encounters and exchange, for laughing together, reflecting, discussing and coming together. This year, energetic organisations, initiatives and people have once again come together to get involved in the Intercultural Weeks. The city of Rodgau and the Office for Diversity and Education, which helped organise the Intercultural Weeks in Rodgau, are delighted with this commitment. Participants in the Intercultural Weeks include the Rodgau Foreigners' Advisory Council, the interfaith encounter project "Glaube. Together. Gestalten.", funded by the Hessian state programme: "Hessen aktiv für Demokratie und gegen Extremismus", the association "Gemeinsam mit Behinderten e.V.", the diversity working group with the small group of senior citizens, intercultural specialists from the city of Rodgau, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jamaat and committed people from the city are taking part with their own events. Admission to all events is free and at no cost to participants. For some events, registration is requested from the organising organisations or people. Further information on all events can be found online at www.rodgau.de/interkulturellewochen. For over 40 years, institutions, initiatives and organisations have been committed to peaceful, unprejudiced coexistence in Germany as part of the Intercultural Weeks. In recent years, around 5,000 events in more than 500 communities have created opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to meet and discuss topics such as diversity, participation and interculturality.

In Germany, there are estimated to be over 80,000 self-help groups with over 3.5 million people who are involved in them, both as sufferers and as relatives. Recently, the demand for self-help groups in the context of mental illness (anxiety, depression) has also risen sharply among children and young people.
Together with the youth support projects from Rodgau, the self-help office is organising an information evening for relatives, those affected and interested parties. The reason for this is the rising number of mental illnesses in children and young people and the increasing strain on therapy services. Our aim is to draw attention to the challenges associated with these illnesses and at the same time to offer support and solutions. Through this evening, we want to empower affected families and give them the opportunity to network and receive valuable information.
The evening event is intended to shed light on various aspects, e.g.:
What do I need to bring with me to participate in a self-help group?
Does it cost anything to participate?
Who can participate in a self-help group?
What is behind the "self-help principle"?
How can group meetings be organised?
Are there opportunities for financial support?
What are the limits of self-help?
Intercultural aspects of self-help?
The speaker, Tom Schüler, works at the Offenbach self-help office and has been involved in promoting self-help and engagement for over 30 years.
