Almost 40 years ago, nine Rodgau residents had the idea of helping each other on a voluntary basis and founded "Bürgerhilfe Rodgau e.V.". Their basic idea was and is that members of all age groups provide help, advice, action and support in the private sphere and receive help themselves if necessary. Since then, the association has grown to an impressive membership of several hundred and, with the basic idea of "mutual aid", has become an important institution in Rodgau to this day. The association's popularity is unbroken, not least because of its points system. In the points system, the helping member receives two points for every hour worked and if help is then called upon, this is offset against the points account. For the so-called passive members, who are unable to offer help and support themselves, it is possible to pay a small amount of money for assistance services such as shopping or accompaniment when shopping, small help in the household or garden, visiting services, help with forms/letters. Bürgerhilfe Rodgau e.V. also maintains an active, varied and sociable club life with regular monthly meetings such as regulars' tables, games afternoons, bowling evenings and cycle tours. Over the past 20 years, Bürgerhilfe Rodgau e.V. has become a permanent and very important partner for the city of Rodgau's senior citizens' counselling service. In many of the counselling sessions with those affected or their relatives, the help and support services of the association have been communicated. In addition to a large number of members, the foundation of the organisation is, of course, the work of the board. For those interested in a new task beyond their professional life, working on the board is a great opportunity to get involved with Bürgerhilfe e.V. and its basic idea of "mutual help" for society of all ages.
