Patients' rights - being properly informed

To ensure that medical treatment, recovery or preventive care run smoothly, it is helpful to have a guide to help you navigate the jungle of the healthcare system. The Patients' Rights Act came into force in 2013. The law stipulates that patients have the right, among other things, to be informed about all significant circumstances of their illness and to be informed in a comprehensible manner before medical measures are taken. If there is a suspicion of medical malpractice, the doctor must inform the patient of this upon request. You should be aware of your rights vis-à-vis doctors and health insurance companies so that you can exercise them. Silke Möhring, a health expert from the Hesse Consumer Advice Centre, will also explain in the lecture what you can do if you are offered individual health services (IGeL) or optional services. The lecture will take place on 15 May, from 3 to 4:30 pm, in the town hall, city council meeting room, Hintergasse 15, 63110 Rodgau. Attendance is free of charge. Registration is not required. Information about the lecture is available from the municipal senior citizens' counsellor, Tina Taffet, on 06106 693 - 1233 or senioren@rodgau.de.
