The town of Rodgau and its twin towns of Hainburg an der Donau (Austria) and Puiseaux (France) are celebrating an important anniversary this year - the 50th anniversary of their town twinning. Together with guests from all four twin towns, the close and long-standing sisterhood will be celebrated and honoured on Saturday, 11 May. The day starts with an academic celebration in the Nieder-Roden community centre at 11 am. Together with representatives of the twin towns, the twinning certificates will be renewed and accompanied by a musical programme from the Nieder-Roden Music Society. Following the academic ceremony, all participants will join the Dudenhofen Music Society in a parade to Puiseauxplatz to celebrate a large town festival. This, organised by the town of Rodgau in cooperation with the "Zuhause im Zentrum" (At home in the centre) development programme, begins at 2 pm. Together with many associations from all over Rodgau, this anniversary and European festival will be an unforgettable event. The town festival will impress young and old with a varied stage programme in cooperation with the local associations. From dancing to music, interactive quizzes and a great atmosphere, everything is included. As the grand finale, the party band "Doctor Blond" will heat things up for all visitors from 19:30. The clubs will also provide food and drink and other highlights. There is something for everyone on the club mile: from delicious cocktails to handmade cheese with music, sausages and chips, wine from various regions and sweet waffles and other culinary specialities, there is everything your heart desires. But there's also plenty of fun to be had: there's a bouncy castle for the kids, anyone who wants to can try their luck on various wheels of fortune or listen to exciting readings in the social centre. The programme also includes a book presentation by the Hainburg Authors' Circle and a film showing the 50-year partnership with Puiseaux and Hainburg. The town library will also be open from 2pm to 5pm and invites all comic fans young and old to take part in the "Free Kids Comic Day". Comic books will be produced for this day by the ten participating comic publishers. A colourful selection of 21 comics - from superheroes and Franco-Belgian adventures to well-known characters from the Disney universe and brand new independent comic characters - are available to choose from. Young comic fans can choose two issues and take them home for free. In addition to the free comics, there will be other highlights on this day: The young manga artist Leonie Droege will be a guest. She will draw with the kids and give practical tips on what is important when drawing and how figures are created. In another creative hands-on activity, kids can make cool comic lettering with their own names. So it's well worth coming along. The organisers and all the participating clubs are looking forward to welcoming lots of guests.
