A tree rarely comes alone

The first trees as part of the Dudenhofen urban redevelopment programme were delivered on Tuesday. The trees, including silver lime trees, white and red ash trees and hop hornbeams, are gradually being planted in the area around the Dudenhofen community centre in the first construction phase. The trees are impressive specimens. The trunk circumferences are between 20 and 40 cm. Their height is between 4 and 7 metres and the crown circumference is also around 1.5 to 3 metres. Optimised site conditions have been created for all the new trees. Extra large planting pits have been constructed. Substrates and aeration of the root zone via aeration pipes as well as the interlinking of the planting pits via root trenches with close tree positioning ensure optimum conditions, as do pipe installations for irrigation. All of the newly planted trees have been selected for their urban climate resistance in order to withstand harsh climatic conditions such as drought, heat and heavy rainfall. At the weekend, the next "tree" on new ground will not be long in coming. With the first festivities on the newly designed square between the Dalles and the community centre, the traditional erection of the maypole by the Rodgau Trade Association will take place on 27 April. After a large part of the first construction phase was completed a few days ago, the large maypole will be hoisted into the air at 2 p.m. using the newly installed tree stand at Dalles. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Georg-August-Zinn-Straße will therefore be closed in the area of the community centre. A diversion is possible via Dellweg. The new location of the maypole and the operation of the tree stand were agreed in advance between the city authorities and the trade association.
