  • January

    • Two major events accompany the turn of the year 1986/1987: Nieder-Roden bids farewell to the year of its 1200th anniversary; Weiskirchen begins the year of its 700th anniversary.
    • The old town hall in Jügesheim is demolished.
    • The Bundestag election produces the following results of the second votes: CDU = 46.4%, SPD = 34%, GREENS = 10.3% and FDP = 8%.
    • Dr Alexander Warrikoff (CDU) is re-elected as a directly elected member of parliament for the constituency.

    • The lake freezes over in the bitter cold; up to 2000 ice sports enthusiasts are counted every day.
    • An electricity pylon was knocked down by saboteurs in the Nieder-Roden district. The whole of Nieder-Roden was without power for hours.
  • March

    • Jügesheim fools storm the old school as a replacement town hall.
    • The ground-breaking ceremony for the new town hall is attended by a large number of people.
  • April

    • The Hesse elections are a great success for the CDU; Dr Walter Wallmann becomes Minister President.
    • The vote in Rodgau is as follows: CDU = 47.1°/0, SPD = 35.4%, GREENS = 11.5% and FDP = 5.8%.
    • Frank Lortz (CDU) remains a directly elected member of the state parliament.
    • 58 children enjoy a wonderful skiing holiday in Austria.
  • May

    • Delay in town hall construction due to bankruptcy of the construction company Dressier - after 4 weeks of rest, the company Hochtief AG continues construction.
    • Weiskirchen celebrates its founding anniversary "700 years of Weiskirchen" with a big festival and historical parade.
    • The census begins.
  • June

    • SG Nieder-Roden becomes district football champion and is promoted to the national league.
    • The city organises 5 trips to Berlin for senior citizens; 250 senior citizens from Rodgau visit Berlin.
  • July

    • Rodgau children experience holidays by the sea in Nieblum on Föhr and in Nieuwpoort/Belgium.
    • Almost 300 children take part in the local holiday games.
  • August

    • Inauguration of the memorial plaque commemorating the beneficial work of the deaconesses at the kindergarten and the Schluckbrunnen fountain in Dudenhofen.
    • 2200 senior citizens from Rodgau take part in the 5 senior citizens' trips to the Rhine.
  • September

    • Laying of the foundation stone in the new town hall.
    • Thieves steal the roll of documents the following night.
    • A water polo match between the DLRG and a team from Nieuwpoort takes place for the first time at the bathing lake.

    • Rodgau and Heusenstamm agree on a neutral expert in the dispute over the Rodgau ring road.
    • Major international choir concert to mark the 145th anniversary of the Dudenhofen Male Voice Choir.
  • November

    • The municipal art exhibition in the Dudenhofen community centre is once again very popular with exhibitors and visitors.
    • Helmut Trageser and retired rector Adam Geißler are awarded the cultural prize of the city of Rodgau for their outstanding achievements in local history.
    • In Dudenhofen, Ludwig-Erhard-Platz is inaugurated and a memorial to the distinguished Economics Minister and Federal Chancellor is unveiled.
  • December

    • Topping-out ceremony for the new town hall in Jügesheim with many celebrities and citizens.
    • The Jügesheim water tower becomes the property of the city; renovation costs are shared between the city and the water board.
    • The city organises Christmas parties for senior citizens in all 5 districts under the leadership of the local councils.
