Promotion of balcony solar systems

A balcony solar system helps to save money and utilises the CO2-friendly benefits of renewable energies without high investment costs.

Promotion and rules

Since 1 January 2024, the updated guideline for the promotion of balcony solar systems has been in force for 3 years until 31.12.2026.

• The subsidy amounts to 25% up to a maximum of €200 of the invoice amount and is a one-off grant.
• The "first come, first served" principle applies - funding is provided until the annual pot of €100,000 has been emptied.
• The supporting documents must be uploaded directly with the application.

Application

Online

To receive the subsidy, you can use an online service in which you must attach a copy of the invoice and a photo of the installed system, among other things.

Analogue

Alternatively, an application form in paper form or as a PDF file can be requested by telephone or e-mail.

Important note

Only complete applications can be processed. This means that an application is complete when it has been filled out and the supporting documents have been submitted.

• The signature is not required for the online procedure.
• Balcony solar systems purchased from 2023 onwards are also eligible for funding in 2024.
• The application deadline is 31 December of the respective funding year.

Recommendation

Tenants should obtain a written declaration of consent from the landlord or landlady for the installation and operation of the balcony solar system. Possible insurance issues should also be checked in your own interest (household contents, residential building, liability insurance).
